Caregiving may be one of the most important roles you will undertake in your lifetime. Typically it is not an easy role, nor is it one for which most of us are prepared. Like most people, you may have questions about how to cope with your care receiver’s illnesses or disabilities. If you have a job and are juggling several responsibilities or if your family member or friend needs a lot of assistance, you may need help with caregiving, too. Whether you are expecting t become a caregiver or have been thrust into the role overnight, it is useful to know where you can get information and help.
River Valley Area Agency on Aging is here for you!
The services available for family caregivers include:
Information to caregivers about available services, assistance to caregivers in gaining access to services, individual counseling, organization or support groups, and training for caregivers to assist them in making decisions for their loved one(s).
• Caregiver Time Out Program
Caregiver Time Out Program is a program that allows a primary family member who is caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease or dementia a break (respite) from his/her Care giving responsibilities by hiring in-home services or using Adult Day Care. The break is beneficial to both the caregiver and person with Alzheimer's disease. The program reimburses caregivers up to $100 per month or $1,200 per year for these services. To register for this program, contact Katy Bridges at 706-256-2943 or 1-800-669-8387.
